Bought a truck about a month ago, and within the week changed the oil (havoline 10w30). I noticed that I have a small leak, looks like the rear main seal. Was it because maybe I am running a different oil than the previous owner? (possibly could have been leaking before, but didnt notice) Will valvoline maxlife syn blend stop the leak? It is dodge ram 1998 with 57k miles, still looking to get 5-7k miles a year with me owning it.

possibly could. Some have reported it "temporarily" fixing the leak, others said the leak went away, others say it didnt.

Is a roll of the dice

The only way Ive ever fixed a rear main leak was by replacing the rear main seal! Those things, when start leaking, are a real PITA to stop leaking.

Don't stop using it. That's why it's called MaxLIFE, you use it for the remaining life of the engine.
