Will LC & FP pass emission test?

I just got my gallon of LC, but it doesn't look like the bottle in the ad and the handle isn't the same, I don't know why but I was kind of dissapointed, but oh well, time to clean some varnish!

blueingold, you probably got one of Odis's old bottles...was it a screen print label?

The bottles on the website or ad above are not pics but artwork done in adobe photoshop so it will not be exact.


VaderSS, in the Mexico test they added 2.6 ounces to 13 gallons. It is hard to say why your NOx did not pass we have yet to test a car on emmisions and not have NOx drop.

Just to make it clear, I did not have FP in the tank for this test. I ran FP for 10k miles, and did not put any in for the last few tanks. The first test did not have FP in, and I was wanting to see if having the engine being cleaner would make a difference.

I know the engine is cleaner, because it runs MUCH better than it did when it was first tested. As a matter of fact, when it was first tested, the tech felt that the engne was on it's way out. The previous owner's tech felt that the engine needed a full rebuild. It now sits and purrs, with a smoth, quiet idle.

I am going to put the FP in and get it retested. It will only take a 1% NOX reduction for it to pass, and, with Terry and LCD's comments, I feel that it will do better than that.

Jeff. If you are curious I'll post all the details of my most recent California emissions test (we use a dyno)for my 1999 Volvo S70 T5 with approx 77,000 miles.

But, this is the snapshot... Both LC and FP were in use at recommended levels.

At both RPMs:

CO2 14.8 ppm
HC 0 ppm
O 0 ppm
CO 0 ppm
NOX 0 ppm


Not too bad if you ask me.

I find that most borderline vehicles(with working emissions controls) will pass after using almost any FI cleaner.

Mexican fuels suck. If they want to improve emissions below the border, they should adopt CARB and TOPTIER!
Do we have an proof that they tried to reverse engineer anything? or is this just hearsay? Sorry, I DON'T BELIEVE IT!

Ok, second pass. Put 2.2 oz of FP in and topped it off with the same fuel as before. 10 gallon tank. The tech gave it a "training run" which did not count. It passed, but by such a slim margin, that I decided not to make an official run, saving that for when I put the cat on.

Should have asked this earlier, but how long were the cars driven in the Mexico test, after putting FP in, before they were tested? I drove it about 15 miles.

There was a definite reduction in NOx, but an increase in HC and low speed CO, with a decrease in high speed CO.

Actually, Sifan, given that your minivan is of the 1997 model year, it should be equipped with OBD-II diagnostics, right? In Maryland on OBD-II vehicles weighing less than 8500 pounds, all they test you on is for a gas-cap pressurization seal, then run an OBD-II check. No running test on the treadmill, they just check to make sure the DTC indicator light comes up, and that there's no stored codes in the powertrain control module. If you pass that, right on through. Just had my inspection with my 98 Grand Prix, and that's what they ended up doing.

I can see it now, Americans going across the border to get their medication refills, as Mexicans come across to get there stash of Fuel Power and Lube Control.

My Sentra failed emissions 2 years ago. Now it is on a steady diet of Lube Control and Fuel Power. I am interested in seeing how it does this fall.

Reduction of emissions occur because engine is clean
significantly reducing the load on converter and net result is converter performs better.

Well, everything on this board is "hearsay" beacuse we all just hear someone else say it, even if they're the ones who were there and saw it happen.

More to the point, though, my job and experience in my former life have shown this to be extraordinarily common in that and another large, asian country.
