will cabin air filter remove Skunk and Pot smells?

Cabin filters filter out particulates and dust, not smells.

Gee, I grew up in Northern New Jersey in a town called Kearny NJ. To the west was a linoleum factory. To the north was a plant that processed urea. To the east was garbage dumps and pig farms. To the south was a slaughter house. You could tell which way the wind was blowing by which smell was strongest.

Would have been nice to have filters that filtered out smells.

Some do filter smells. That's what the carbon layer is for. We can drive by the Blue Plains sewage treatment plant with the windows up and not smell it. For those not familiar with the DC area, you can smell the sewage plant all the way down to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and National Harbor. I used to hate going to the Naval Research lab across the road form it. They put special filters in the buildings to keep the evil smell out.

Has anyone used a cabin air filter (CAF) that keeps out the smell of skunks and skunk weed? We have both skunks in the area and when I drive inside the Beltway some of the neighborhoods have the obvious smell of people smoking pot outside. It's getting pretty common. Not judging, just don't want to get high off secondary smoke. It also stinks and burns my nose. Skunk Weed or Stink Weed, I don't like it.
Ha Ha Ha, I know the feeling, almost everyday for 2 years I had a guy smoking weed at 5:45 am, while I was driving to work. I would be in his cloud pathway of skunk weed. Maybe he got caught smoking weed everyday and was fired. I am glad I don't smell it much anymore, it was horrid. At least if he would be smoking "Sage" based hash, I wouldn't mind the smell then.

Some might contest which parts of DC are sewage plants, lol. Some would argue it's the whole thing!

Skunks are common in my neighborhood. When one gets run over near my house the odor enters my home. We cover up all sorts of bad odors with BATH & BODY WORKS "BEAUTIFUL DAY" FINE FRAGRANCE MIST. Yes, I know its a perfume of sorts but SO STRONG!!!. My wife's friend's gave it to her one Christmas. I suspect they didn't smell it before gifting it.

Did you go to school with @AutoMechanic ?

"Ozium" a product hospitals use. Widely available. Comes in a small aerosol spray that will easily fit in a glove box or center console . Only use a very light short spray. You don't need much. It eliminates odors rather than masking them.

That stuff will kill a skunk bong party. But you really should not breathe it in

One of my neighbors gave us a BISSELL POWERTRAK COMPACT upright Vac. Another gave us some SHARK ODOR NEUTRALIZER cartridges. I placed the carts just above the foam filter in the Powertrak and it works well. I used a zip tie to hold it in place. Perhaps you could Jerry Rig a Shark cart or similar deodorizer inside the filter housing without getting sucked into the blower or lost in the ductwork in some other fashion? I thought Fabreeze made plug in's for cars but I've not seen those products lately.

They also have a odor eliminating gel that comes in a small jar with an adjustable lid which allows you to place it anywhere even in cars. The key to the spray is no more than a one second shot (you learn VERY quickly to follow the one second rule!). Anymore than that and yes, it will chase you out of the space. More is definitely not better! Ozium has been around a LONG time and proven to be very safe. My uncle was a doctor and he used this in his office back in the 60's!

Except on the label it says to leave the room for an extended time. It's said that high ozone is bad for the lungs.
I have a big one right next to my bed. I think it's giving me brain damage but I'm to dumb to stop using it 🤣
