Has anyone used a cabin air filter (CAF) that keeps out the smell of skunks and skunk weed? We have both skunks in the area and when I drive inside the Beltway some of the neighborhoods have the obvious smell of people smoking pot outside. It's getting pretty common. Not judging, just don't want to get high off secondary smoke. It also stinks and burns my nose. Skunk Weed or Stink Weed, I don't like it.

I have tried regular, charcoal and other types of cabin filters - they do not filter those smells. I hate the smell of weed!!! Best option is to switch the AC to recirculate mode.

Well for one you can't get high from second hand smoke which enters your cabin. I live in Atlanta where drivers get high during their commute to/from work is "a thing". The charcoal filter in our car does not filter the smell.

That Skunk weed smell is at just about every stop light now. I don't recall it smelling so bad back in the day...
I once had a car 12v plug in ozone generator in the 80's and I still see them on Amazon, I can't remember how well it worked or not...

I would assume a cabin filter with activated Carbon ( charcoal ) would at least help some if changed often but would not expect it to be 100% as I can't walk on a sidewalk now without the smell of skunk weed all around...

Not those "PRO" Ozone machines I use before cleaning and selling a used car, I'm talking the 12v plug in Ozone for cars... $26 Amazon

Except on the label it says to leave the room for an extended time. It's said that high ozone is bad for the lungs.
Those aren't for occupied spaces. OP needs to filter out the "jazzy" neighborhoods he drives through.
My bad for not reading the OP fully. I assumed it was for lingering persistent odors.

OK. Everyone gets a thumbs up for a suggestion. So the answer is a deafening NO. Recirculate is too late when the smell has already come in. Recirculate also gets stale after a while plus, someone had a thread showing they recorded CO2 buildup while driving on recirculate.
I have an ozone generator, but as noted, it isn't a good idea when driving. :giggle: The smell also goes away when you get out of the stink zone.
BMW and Mercedes dealer filters are no better than the selections at the Jungle Store and local boxes.
Thank you.
