Will ARX help a leaking auto trans seal?

Hi all,

Another newby here.

I have a 94 Dodge GC, 3.3L w/4 speed OD auto trans. I bought the van last Oct. and changed the trans oil and filter immediately. Oil was a light tan, so needed the change. There wasn't any trash in the pan and only a light coating of friction dust in the pan, this was at ~170K miles.

Now at ~175K, it has started leaking ATF from the bell housing cover. About a quart/month. Not good.
My guess is that the torque converter nose seal has failed.

My question is, would a treatment with Auto-RX restore the seal, or will I have to pull the trans and replace it?

Hello Frank,

I've checked your site and I will order some ARX
soon, for 2 diffferent engines. What I was hoping was to connect with someone who has done something similar and can report on their level of success.

It would be really helpful if someone who is familar with mopar transmissions would post an opinion on my chances of success/failure.

I'm old and slow and it is hard work pulling a transaxle in the driveway.

It's hard to say. If some cleaning and conditioning will help, then yes. If the seal is torn or damaged, then no. My .02 is that it's worth the price of a bottle to at least try it first before you start tearing things apart.
