I am new to bitog, but I have followed the site for some time now. This is a prayer request to those of you who are religious. My wife is having neck surgery on December 10th. She is having 3 disks removed from her neck and is having her neck fused. Her surgery is going to be 3-3 1/2 hours. Having followed BITOG for sometime, I feel that most of the posters are great people. We would appreciate any prayers for her surgery and recovery. I am scared as she is my love and my life (I dont let her know I'm scared). I feel bad being new and making this request, but I feel that the members would understand. Thanks in advance:)

No way friend. No reason to feel bad, you aren't selling car parts with a low post count, this is the real deal. I spend a lot more time on forums than i do helping others, calling my mother, doing pushups etc. Coming on here everyday has it's own therapeutic quality, as some use it for info, some use it to laugh at or with other, some just to find deals, etc. I kinda wish this forum had regions like other car enthusiast sites even if you don't wish to see anyone in person, the feeling of others closeby helps the spirit. Maybe some NJ fellas will see this post and put in a good word here and in their hearts this weekend for you two.

About 15 years ago I had a neck laminectomy. Basically my C6 & C7 disks were compressing a nerve. They used a graft from my hip. Was in an incredible amount of pain, muscle spasms, and losing strength in my left arm. This came on suddenly (no trauma) and I did everything I could to avoid surgery

The doctor told me that when I woke my hip would hurt more then my neck. I naturally couldn't believe it but was true. I naturally had some moderate pain after surgery but I couldn't believe the differences and wish I had done it earlier. And now, 15 years later am sure the procedures are even better

Things swill get better for her, stay positive and let her know that we are praying for the two of you and all those who wlll be treating her

I want to thank all of you that have posted, and those that have yet to post. BITOG is like a brotherhood. I feel that I have joined a family. This forum is special and like no other on the web. God bless you all.

I'll be adding her to the prayer list. Seems like quite a few people I know are having major surgery right now. So far all have pulled through wonderfully! I'm sure your wife will as well.

god speed and good luck. my family and I send our prayers for a safe and speedy recovery. hang in there !

Prayers for sure. Thanks for telling us.

Also not a problem, but you posted under the "Vehicles" forum. This is the type of thread that would go in the "General and of Topic" forum.

Hang in there and stay strong. Reach out and join a support group if need be and give silent unity a call 1-800-669-7729. They helped me out a bunch last year when my wife was in the hospital.

Thought and prayers coming to you

Bo

May the suffering be free from suffering,
May the fearstruck be free from fear,
May the grieving be free from grief.
So too, may all beings be,
From the highest realm of existence to the lowest.

May all beings arisen in these realms,
With form and without form,
With perception and without perception,
Be released from all suffering,
And attain to perfect peace.

Fortunately it's a fairly common surgery with few complications. She'll be sore for a while, but it's vastly better than the pain she's currently in. Best wishes for her complete recovery.

I had a close friend who had the same thing done when he was in his early 40's. He nearly lost the use of his left arm before the surgery and was in constant pain. When he talks about it, he always says his most vivid memory is that of waking up in the recovery room and being pain free for the first time in a couple years.
