why you never buy a lease

Please -- more thought and less crack. Life is better that way.

Seriously, would YOU want to unwittingly buy that truck? If this guy intended to drive this vehicle until it flat out died, well then fine. But we all know that's not how it's going to work out. Someone else is going to be hosed, buying what's packaged as a nice-looking truck, but is in reality, badly damaged. If you're OK with that, please, seek this degenerate out and buy the truck from him yourself.

You would be right about that. Were you not, I would have to look for other work. I'm a criminal defense attorney, by the way. . .

I just called the cops on one of my neighbors for parking in the fire lane. The cop left a nice $50 parking ticket for them. If it's still parked there in a few hours, I'll call the towing company (I'll wait so it's more likely that they're asleep when the tow truck shows up). Then it'll cost them $150 to get it back, plus $50 for the parking ticket, for a total of $200.

Do whatever you want, there are consequences.

In a perfect "wonder bread" America, nobody ever revs a cold engine, or has the nerve to park in a fire lane.

If they do, it's nice to know somebody like you is waiting will a phone in hand to ruin their day. Nice work. I'm sure you're very popular in your neighborhood. (snicker).

The jerk in question could have easily found a legal parking spot. There were plenty of them. I guess, however, that he felt that the rules didn't apply to him and therefore he shouldn't have to walk further than 20 feet to his car.

I guess he'll have to decide if it was worth $200 in parking tickets and towing fees (I called the towing company and made sure they came to remove the car) to avoid having to walk a few hundred feet.

I don't aim to be popular with the sort of garbage which acts like that. Hopefully, I can run 'em out of here.

The scary part is that it's clear this guy (Scdevon) doesn't give a [censored] about ANYONE but himself. I think he qualifies as a sociopath.

I guess you showed him! (rolleyes)

If there's anything more annoying than some dude revving the snot out of a cold engine, it's the self-proclaimed do-gooders in our society who can't mind their own business.

Thankfully, this is changing one funeral at a time since there seem to be very few do-gooders and busy-bodies under the age of 40 to take their place. (I'm 46).

And yes, I did show him. Unless he's an idiot, he won't be parking in a fire lane around here again. Because the same thing will happen. Again.

What does that have to do with anything? I don't buy leased vehicles for the very reason we're discussing in this thread. People who do buy leased vehicles usually love to brag about what a smokin' deal they got on a vehicle. It's clear from this thread that isn't always the case. It's "buyer beware".

If it's that big of a deal, maybe there should software in the PCM that makes it impossible to free rev a cold engine above, say, 2000 RPM with a coolant temperature less than, say, 150 degrees F. Yes, society is that freaky and we need to babysit people all the time. If this guy feels like opening up the oil fill cap and tossing a hand full of dirt in the crankcase on a leased vehicle, nothing could prevent that either.

This thread is about the right of a registered owner to rev the b'jesus out of a cold engine if he wants to. People who rat other people out in life are quite pathetic and usually have no life; hence the need to feel important by disrupting other people's free will.

Maybe he will, maybe he won't. $200 bucks is a minor setback. Cutting corners is one of life's simple pleasures. The lifetime benefits are huge. $200 bucks might anger him enough to become more crafty and less obvious about his corner-cutting life. That's all.

It's pretty obvious when one is parked in a fire lane. I don't know how they do it in Wyoming, but 'round these here parts, they paint the curbs yellow and put signs up which say things like "NO PARKING FIRE LANE".

So, if he's parked in a fire lane, it's obvious to the cops, the tow truck driver, and anyone else. There's no hiding it.

Don't forget that he has to go get his car back from the impound lot, and they only take cash. No checks, no credit cards. That's because guys like this one would write a rubber check or dispute the charges. They know how it works.

Hey, ALL humans do this and actually I don't have a problem with someone who does, UNLESS it endangers someone else.

But honstly Scdevon...are you BRAVE enough to admit that you are a sociopath?

Just to let you know I am a US citizen living in Canada...

Unfortunately I have seen the level of ignorance, selfishness, arrogance, and reckless disregard for others SOAR to heights I never thought I would ever see in my lifetime, in the USA..sure all countries in the Western world have a problem with degenerating societies ,but the US leads that in my view after nearly 46 years of life lived there.

Although we have our problems, as Americans we should be the last to sell our countrymen short. We have enough malefactors as it is, why add fuel to our enemies' fire? Do you not love your country?

No.
A bit misanthropic maybe.

If you live in a fantasy world where rented equipment gets taken care of as well as owned equipment just because "it's the right thing to do", then life may continue to be difficult for you, however.
