Why would filter cause valve or engine noise?

I just installed a PO in my Sentra after getting start noises with a K&N OF and Syntec 10-30. I still seem to get some of that with the PO. I have an OEM filter that I *may* install at the next OCI with PP oil. It would be nice to put a stop to ALL startup noises for once and all. I don't care what brand of oil filter I have to use, just to get quiet startups.

I guess it varies by model. This mazda OEM filter looks a lot like a 400S.
