and it was SL rated... This was yesterday.

I can confirm that sometimes the API Sx rating on Oils is SL and not SM. I too have taken a note of this, when shopping in a Store and comparing. I also can confirm that if i really thoroughly read the packaging, i can usually find "Exceeds SL" or even "Exceeds SM." I only trust the Donut, however. Not the Starburst, as the Oils usually dont have one.. The API Service Donut.

Not sure if it is Packaging Overlook, Older product, or Reformulation. However, it DOES Vary among Manufacturers, and i can confirm M1 puts SL on some of their Products.

Not all, not every bottle or Jug or product, but i have seen it more than once, coming from Mobil.

Hope this helps

We need pictures. This is a first, I believe.

If I do go back soon for w/e reason Ill surely snap a photo. I wanted to that day because I wasnt planning on getting the oil. But I wound up buying so I didnt take any photos.

By the time I get back to walmart Im sure those 2 jugs would be sold... But if they arent Ill snap the photo.

Now I find it funny these photos fate are decided by my newborns baby wipe demands ! haha, if she runs through a box of diapers or 5 bags of baby wipes within a few days Ill have to go back (also be out of MORE $$ ) lols.

The 15w50 was sm rated, thats why I got it. Although My Jaguar calls for SL or higher I know that SM is a newer more robust ? blend.

Ill keep posted

Are you 100% sure about that? I wasn't aware of M1 0w-40 being available in jugs, only 1qt bottles.

I always look for it and I've never seen it. The three closest walmarts to me don't even carry the 0w-40 anymore.

it had the ACEA certifications, but no SM. The reason I didnt get it was more so that it was old stock, BEFORE SM became standard.

So I figured if this oil only carries an SL cert, that its pretty old.

It isn't that hard. You buy the oil from them if you want 5w-30.

Sounds like it. Mobil never offered 0w-40 in the jug as far as I've been able to find.

And a while back, a member posted an email from E-M stating that this grade was not offered in the jug.

or you buy it from the store in 5w-30, which is not the correct visc. I'm glad you know which one to use, for sure, because I don't see anything about "BMW" 5w-30. Most people would think Pennzoil or GTX or something from the store.

It was Mobil 1 High Mileage Synthetic. Either 10W-30 or 10W-40.

SL on Donut. Id put Money on it. 5 Gallon Jug.

I forgot that part.
