Why some people use monograde ?

Now for the oil recommendation from the owners manual. Turns out the spec is for 5w50. So much for the fear of shearing down. Monograde is old man stuff.

At the tractor and truck stores they sell all kinds of dual rated HDEO 10W30 (synth?) and 15W30 made by Total that feature all the usual approvals and specs. It is said here that a synthetic group III 10W30 doesn't contain any VII and basicaly is a "modern SAE30". Sounds like it could apply to a 15W30 too? I took a look at some of these oil's TDS and they all say something like "ultimate shear resistance". Sounds ideal, no VII, low NOACK, 3.5+ HTHS... Is this the closer i can get to a SAE30? Remember that SAE30 is only sold for lawnmowers here and that PCMO 10W30 doesn't exist.
