Why is Red Leather Interior All the Rage?

I never had leather interior in my cars and never wanted to, too stiff, slippery and cold in winter, hot and sticky in summer. Drove a few cars with leather in all seasons, including higher end cars. I often wished some of those came with good grippy fabric seats, at least as an option.

^^How 'bout mottled or leopard spotted interiors to mask cigarette burns? (jk)

A car guy told me the 'between the thighs' cigarette burn is a classic.
So how 'bout zippered replacement panels for seat bottoms (again, jk)

The best of both worlds...

I was just paging through a 1991 or 1992 Chevy full-line catalog. Just about every model (Cavalier, Corsica, Beretta, Lumina, etc) was available in about a half-dozen different interior colors. Those were the days!
