Why do people find it so easy to lie?

Board and Fritzon concluded that the businesspeople they studied might be called "successful psychopaths." In contrast, the criminals -- the "unsuccessful psychopaths" -- were more impulsive and physically aggressive.

Hence the difference is a matter of discretion. The term "having your act together" takes on a whole new meaning.

I've seen junkies with top security ratings (pre-Nancy's war on drugs and the subsequent testing)...cops that violate laws...etc..etc..etc. Sometimes it's all in the timing on when they learned to "be bad". Never assume that what someone does is any indication of the moral substrata of their character.

I went to Petsmart. They asked me if was a member of their savings club (or whatever it's called). "No, what is that?" An explanation was given and "I said sure, I'll join." Then I got the savings. How difficult is it get the CVS savings card?

The question is, is giving up your privacy worth the small discount memberships buys you? CVS will know what and when and how much of it you shop. They will share (sell) your info to other companies that will then pitch their products at you. Ever wonder why there's so much junk mail in the mail? "They all" are after us!

thats the truth....

Vons does this, for example you want to buy a roast - it's $27, but if you use a vons club card it's $15

truth is, it's really a $15 roast anywhere else - but vons will charge you more if you don't use a club card and tell them your spending habits - like a penalty for not giving up your privacy.

I always like the question in the Harris pole survey.

Companies seek to find peoples blablabla to provide desired products and services.

Do you think this is a good thing? Yes/No.

When they put this question in the survey I always send a note to the feedback desk about it. I offer them the alternative question and see what the likely answer would be.

Companies seek to find out ways to extract the maximum profit while providing the least product/service by intimately learning consumer habits and exploiting and manipulating circumstances to their advantage.

Do you think this is a good thing? Yes/No

Maybe she's like me and thinks all these free membership cards are ridiculous and shouldn't exist, so she's disrespecting the whole process. What's the point of these cards? Do people somehow feel special when they have to carry a bunch of useless cards around? I have to admit to lying every time I fill out information cards for things like this. My name becomes Mike Hunt or Bob Loblaw, at 123 Fake Street, whenever I sign up for something like that. Aside from things like that, I rarely lie. I'd even rather be honest (or keep my mouth shut) than lie just to be nice to someone.

I have a Smart&Final and Safeway membership cards. I also have an REI card. That's it. I really don't like that Safeway knows my shopping habits -- just out of principle. I subject myself reluctantly to scrutinization and becoming a number, because I want those still-too-high, discounted prices. Curse them all!

I look at lying about those bleeping store cards as a form of a Boston Tea Party. It burns me that the person in front of me gets the same product I get for a cheaper price because they have a special card. Besides the fact I can't carry all the cards the stores want me to have. Also, all stores around here will use another person's card or one the cashier keeps at the register so what is the point of collecting the data in the first place when many rings aren't legit due to this type of card use. Is it lying/cheating to use someone else's card?

It is way different when this past weekend the cashier rang up 18 like items when I knew I had 20. I informed her that there should be 20 so she recounted and added 2 to the total. Not correcting her would have been stealing to me.

"The truth of the matter is..."
That rates right up there with "Honey, I can explain...."
I actually am having a dilly of a time with the whole concept of honesty lately. For example, my better 3/4 and me just adopted a dog, (Lhasa/Maltese mix). It's chilly here now, so we take said canine to Petco, and find a sweatshirt in the right size in the clearance bin. We gather the obligatory "pet house", (Wholy crank! This pup lives better than I do!), organic food, treats,(for training.. she's earned one so far.), and harness/leash. Take everything to the checkout, and realize that we did not get the sweatshirt scanned. I tell the young lady of our error, while Callie is gnawing contentedly on the collar of the sweatshirt. She looks at me, says, "Have you got a buck?" Sure I do. I get a fin from the now much thinner wallet, and hand it to her. She puts it in the donation jar for the local shelter. Now some of y'all are thinkin' this is OK, but the truth of the matter is, our honesty caused a lie. The sweatshirt should have been about 4.00 . The young lady lied to her company, allowing merchandise to leave the store without being paid for, and justified that lie to herself by the "donation" to the local shelter. I'm lying to myself, thinking that they had to have made out on the "Pet Home", so the loss to them on the sweatshirt should be OK; I mean come on.. it was in the clearance bin, it was marked down,... but in reality, not so much. Honesty causes lies; lies encourage others to tell the truth. They both have to exist to give each parameter definition. I like this quote the best" We tell lies when we are afraid... afraid of what we don't know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what will be found out about us. But every time we tell a lie, the thing that we fear grows stronger. ~Tad Williams

whats stupid is they can track spending habits by doing inventory... thats how you tell what sells and when...

the only reason to use a card is to find out what sex/age/income group/neighborhood (all info you give up on the app) buys certain items.
