Why do cops not direct accident scenes?

Huge back of because of a rollover. The lady in front of me rubber necking at almost a complete stop. So I-5 is pretty much a parking lot. Was not in it for more than 5-8 minutes luckily.

I honked at her politely to scoot along since there was a good block of no traffic ahead of her at this point. Our lane was the only one attempting to move at that point. I think she flipped me the bird? Anywho, why don't cops direct traffic and make sure people move along better? I mean this is four lanes of traffic at a stop thanks to her.

Maybe they can put up a LED lighted sign saying keep this lane moving along at 10MPH.

Here cops do keep the traffic moving as much as they can. The rubberneckers will gawk anyway. If there are 500 cars and every driver wastes 5 seonds looking, then that adds 42 minutes unnecessary waiting time for the last car in line.

I remember the story of the Roman fistfighter Rediculas, whose poorly tied caestus unraveled during a fight. He broke his wrist and was slain by his nemesis Notso Serius.

A while ago there was a non-fatal multi-vehicles accident on I-5 in So Cal, then some minutes later the rubberneckers on the other side caused another multi-vehicles accident and this time several people killed.

I hate rubberneckers the most, they are the ones who cause the congestion and sometimes accidents. Drivers should concentrate on driving and surrounding traffic, it's okay to have a half-second glance at the accident, but more than 2-3 seconds is a no no.

Rubberneckers should be shot on sight. They're just as dangerous as the wanker going 45mph in the left lane (70mph limit) and the soccer mom yapping on her cell phone while filing her nails...

I hate rubberneckers. I too get caught in bad traffic because of an accident on the other side of the highway all the time. It's infuriating.

A few weeks ago, I took a trip to Maine and coming back home, there was a rollover on the other side of the highway. Surprisingly, there was no back-up on my side. I had a quick glance at the accident as I drove by at 70 mph. If I recall correctly, the traffic on the other side wsn't even bad, since the car had rolled off the road and all lanes were clear. It was kind of a culture shock to me to see no back-ups. Do rubberneckers not exist in Maine?

I do a quick glance at the mangled bumpers looking for out of state tags. Can do that at 70.

I think cops should have giant retractable curtains, like the artist Christo, that somehow mount in receiver hitches so they can "wrap" or shield wrecks quickly.

This caused quite a cluster:

SAN BERNARDINO — Authorities say a wrong-way driver is dead after being shot from a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department helicopter during a chase that ended in the Devore area on Friday.
