I didn't get to hear much of the story behind this one. I've never seen anything like it before. Any idea how that would happen?

No, that's all I have. It was a pretty busy day today so, unfortunately, I didn't have much opportunity. Another guy was looking at this one; I'm just curious as to how that could happen. It turns out to have an extended warranty and was towed away.

Yeah I dont see whats wrong, but Im not familiar with what the J35 looks like under the valve cover.

Very early 5.7L Tundras had this issue...apparently there was a metallurgical defect with the cams. Could be a bad run of cams or something.

Any idea if this Pilot had the variable cylinder control? Would be interesting to know if that feature causes durability issues.

Yes, it has VCM (or did anyway) and as Trav (he's usually right) has explained there can be some nasty problems, but as to whether or not the VCM broke this camshaft?

I was hoping you guys would know.

This has me curious also I was hoping to see if the rocker arms were in one piece or had one come apart and jammed the cam.
Timing belt ok?

Something apparently caused the cam to stop abruptly with enough force to break it. This one of those times you wish had more time with it.
I have more questions than guesses.

They should recognize le carnage

and conjecture all day long. what else is there to talk about.

The cam lobes don't look all that spectacular, either. Maybe conventional oil run at too long of intervals? The residual oil in the head doen't look too good either.

Yonyon, looking at the pic closer it seems the valve on the right is bent or is that just the camera angle?
Maybe the timing belt or tensioner let go.
