Why credit check for a cash sale

I would refuse a credit check if paying cash. None of their business if I am not asking for credit. I would walk in a second if they pulled that on me and it wasn't a legal requirement. I would simply say no and if they insisit I would simply say "have a nice day" and then walk out. Again, if it is some type of legal requirement that is different. Never head of that before though.

Maybe a credit check is their way of seeing what kind of financial shape you are in so they can try and make you pay more for the vehicle? Paying cash + very high credit score = could mean a customer with a big bank roll so we don't have to come down on the price as much. Maybe??? Paying cash( and usually that is a bank check not actual cash )doesn't automatically mean you are loaded either as you could have got a preapproved loan elsewhere to pay the dealer on your own( I have done this before ). So again, maybe they are trying to see how much they can try and avoid marking the vehicle down??
