Why can't I find 10W30 diesel-rated oil?

10W30 HDEO was readily available at both the Case dealership and the John Deere dealership where I worked. It can't be THAT hard to find.

Easily found at your Ford dealership:

I also don't understand 'inherent oiling problems'. Any of the synthetic 5w40 and 0w40 HDEO's should flow and pump well enough or better then a mineral 10w30 when cold.
Not sure if you're close to the Canadian border, but maybe you should smuggle some Esso XD3 or Rotella-SB.

VW dealerships stock 0w30 506.01 and 5w30 507/504 oil.
RoyalPurple Longrider is available in a 10w30.
Amsoils series 3000 would another excellent choice.

Also, why the must for CJ4? I do understand the cost/performance benefit of the new CJ4 spec. But, there are plenty of excellent oils you can use that aren't CJ4 or 10w30 that should work just as well.

Try the largest WalMart in your area. Only the largest WalMart in my area had the new Rotella T 10w30 CJ4. They had plenty.

FYI, Today I found that my local Menards does carry it and has a sale on through tomorrow 4/29 for $8.48/gallon (normally $8.88). It's the CJ-4 formulation. Not the best price I've seen recently, but I haven't seen the CJ-4 yet. Bought 10 gallons. I'm switching everything over but the big tractor (which will stay on 15w40) at the next service interval and will runs UOAs on at least some of them.
