Who will replace Fram filters at Walmart?

You have to assume oil filter assembly lines are available.

So, are price negotiations going on?
Is a new design scheme being hatched?
Are suppliers reaching for a "next level" of assembly automation?

Here's a news story on the PGI Northstar purchase.
PGI Northstar will acquire 12 brands including Fram, Autolite, and Trico. The $25 million deal will include assuming some liabilities. Waiting for a judge to approve the deal.
No details form PGI Northstar about the factories and how they will treat the names.

That sounds like a bargain with the potential they will have.

Looking at walmart, for the wife's ram, and the only compatible filter in stock was the Purolator 20000 mile one, and I think maybe Mobil 1 filter.

Which RAM? They usually have MO-339 and 899 on the shelf around here.

2017 1500 with a 5.7. Even the Mopar ones were out of stock at my location. I am just going to take advantage of O'reilly's Valvoline Restore and Protect deal and snag a Microguard select for a little over $6. Combo is for a 5qt jug and filter for $39, with a limit of 2. Valvoline Restore and Protect for my F150, and then I will get the filter for the Ram, and my F150, as I need two jugs anyway. We might not still have said Ram, at the end of the summer, so I am just going to use Supertech High Mileage full syn, for it's oil change.

Worked for costco and a hot dog factory
That is not really a good analogy to compare. Costco made it a thing to keep their hot dog and soda combo a controlled inflation stable $1.50 cost that was used as a marketing tool to be made up elsewhere in the store.
