I like hats but they overheat my head. Was very hot where we were today and my head was hot so I bought a hat hoping to stay cooler but all that did was collect my sweat and give me greasy hat hair.

What's the trick?

Sun hat: Ohh you betcha. Need to score a long necked Sun hat.

Lament: I never found an Australian Police Dept. equipment store for a uniform khaki summer hat. Great uniform.

Public Service Announcement:
The convertible we rented dropped its rear windows when the top actuated; up or down.
I parked and raised the top not realizing the rear quarter windows stayed down.
Someone reached in and stole my Tilley Hat.

Since we were in La Jolla, Mrs. Kira suggested a seal took it.

I was reading an article about someone that had to have half their nose removed due to cancer. When he asked the doctor what he could have done to prevent this his doctor advised him if he would have worn a cheap baseball style hat for a quarter of the time he was outdoors it would have solved his problem.

Important to wear a hat when out in the sun. I'm losing my hair and sunshine on bare scalp is not a good thing. I wear a brimmed hat to protect my face and ears as well. A ball cap is better than nothing but it leaves your ears exposed.

I saw and treated way too many skin cancers on the face, scalp and tips of the ears, which are caused by excessive sunlight (which after all is radiation coming from a distant fusion reactor).

The sweat bands do get sweat stained and when they get too bad I throw the hat out. My lawn mowing Tilley hat is washable. Wouldn't wear it anywhere else though - ugh.

I wear baseball hats anytime I’m awake. I feel different without them. Can’t think of the last time I went somewhere without a hat.
Same here. Always some version of a curved bill adjustable ball cap. Have walked out the front door without it on and it feels like not wearing pants or something 😝
. Boonie hat for being out in sun for > 1.5 hrs.

I prefer the belt-buckle style adjuster, then velcro, then the peg-snap ones. The plastic on the peg-snap ones makes me sweat quicker.

Haven't graduated to the mesh-back trucker hats yet...I will some day

I didn't have to read an article, it happened to my neighbor. Lost the top of one ear as well.

Lifelong farmer, wore nothing but seed corn (ball) caps. It didn't work for him..
