Is this some Mobil 1? Had it changed today by the dealer, they used the house oil possibly Mobil 1. It will only get 5K miles on it, should be GTG.

Does Honda sell oil in 55-gallon (or larger) drums ? I doubt that they do. Even then, it's unlikely that dealers would use it due to cost. Most off-the-shelf oils will more than satisfy the requirements that Honda specifies so one dealer could use Valvoline, another uses Mobil 1, another uses Pennzoil, and so on....

Even the oil that Honda puts in engines at the factory could change year by year. Just depends on who bids on supplying oil that meets their spec and has the best terms for Honda.

Conoco Phillips. Most dealers are using the SynBlend 0w-20, but a few dealers have switched to the Full Synthetic 0W-20.

Here is a VOA of the full synthetic version:

If its a Honda dealership, odds are its whatever cheap 55 gallon bulk oil they get that meets minimum specs. I have a friend that works at a Lexus dealership, They use cheap bulk oil in everything, yet charge a fortune for service.

It really depends on the incentive programs. The Honda bulk oil program is quite attractive and most Honda dealers on my area are using the Genuine Honda oil. Same story with the Toyota program.

I believe the factory fill in Japanese made vehicles is idemitsu.

I believe last I looked conoco phillips packaged the Honda oil for the US market.

UD

We purchase 55 gallon drums for shop use at our dealership, but we sell/service Honda motorycles.

I'd read somewhere that they'd switched to Idemitsu for bike oil, wonder if they have on the car side as well.

They are. I'm not sure what the S Korean reference is for either.
