Who is making Dex VI

I was considering the same fluid, but since #205 is only available in 420lb drums, 120lb kegs, or 40lb pails, I decided that I would keep searching.

What does a 40# pail translate into gallons?

The Amsoil fluid is approx 6.8 Cst @ 100C(212F) compared to a maximum spec of 6.0 Cst @ 100C for the OEM Dexron VI fluid. However typical ATF temps in most vehicles run in the 150F-180F range, depending on load. Since the viscosity index of the Amsoil fluid is very high, it will thicken less as the temps drops. Under any sort of conceivable cold start situation, I would expect the viscosity of the Amsoil fluid to actually be a bit lower than the OEM fluid, so the transmission will actually shift better during the warmup phase.

There is no issue at all using the Amsoil fluid in the new six speed transmissions. It has be thoroughly field tested in this application, or they would not be recommending it. Since Amsoil is based in Superior, WI, you can bet this including lots of testing to evaluate shifting under very cold weather conditions....

Comparison of Petro Canada OEM, Dexron VI Fluid to Amsoil 100% synthetic ATF:

Viscosity Index:

PC, 151
Amsoil, 168

Viscosity @ -40F/-40C:

PC....... 12,030 Centipoise
Amsoil... 9,326 Centipoise

As you can see, under extreme cold conditions, the PAO based Amsoil fluid is almost 25% THINNER than the OEM, Petro Canada (Group III based) fluid.

I do not look at Pablo as trying to sell a product (although he has paid for the right to do so). He is just the Amsoil "Mythbuster". People like to fling insults to Amsoil and he deflects them with technical data.

How many miles have they tested it?

TeeDub,
No disrespect but you clearly don't understand that when the blend and test variation is combined we cannot say that one of these fluids is really different to the other.
