Who has the thickest can?

I have an odd question, I'm looking for a thick walled filter for a project.
I just need the can cut off the filter.
Something with around 4" diameter, 51515 filter size or bigger. ( can be shorter or longer)
So far the filters I have cut apart here are too thin.
Bonus if there's a stainless version?

What have you cut apart?

I haven't measured but the thickest I have seen lately was probably a Hengst.

If its a science project that needs a can why not cut open a single walled water bottle - it would be stainless - just not a great grade of stainless

I need the domed top.
I have considered bottles, cups beakers if I can't finds a suitable can.

Pentius XL filter cans are pretty thick, at ~0.64 mm. I don't think you'll find a filter with a much thicker can. The PLXL5 might be around 4" diameter. Not sure if that's the widest model.

Possible that a Fram Racing filter is thicker.

Baldwin makes a very sturdy filter. The B2-HPG that I use as a transmission filter on many of my cars takes a LOT of work to cut open. No need for the HPG filter media - pick a Baldwin that meets your size requirements.
I was going to order the b2 anyways as I'm trying to switch everything over to baldwin.
B2hpg is not as easy to get, I assume it uses the same construction?

The Pentius plxl was hard to cut open and visibly thicker than the usual. The Purolator Boss also. Right now the Boss may be cheaper.

I assume so, as well. I use them as a transmission filter, and chose that filter because of the internal bypass (8 PSI IIRC). Wrote a whole thread on it, if you’re interested, but that thread is pretty far OT from your objective, a thicker can for your project.

The hydrostat filter on my tractor is halfway to a scuba tank, I think the charge pressure runs at 300-400psi? Or maybe at full hydraulic pressure ~2000psi? I'm pretty sure they are rebuildable as the base plate seems to thread into the can, but I haven' bothered to try to take one apart. About 3" diameter though, and aluminum, but there is a lot of it.

The hydraulic fluid filter is ~4"x8" and fairly solid too as its on the vacuum side, so it can't implode.

Both of these are just scrap metal after use, so a dealer might just let you have a used one. The hydrostat filter is ~$100 new, the hydraulic one is much cheaper.

Searching Baldwin high pressure hydraulic filters I found that komatsu filter.
EBay knock of filters around $35 or a wix or Baldwin around $80.
Might try one of those. No one lists burst pressure.
