I bought some defy I was going to use this OCI but I saw that M1 HM 5w20 on the shelf and in the oil trance, I had to buy some. If a car doesn't have any big leaks, and recently had some gasket work would a HM oil cause problems? M1 HM says it has seal swellers, would this cause problems with my new gaskets? Since I haven't pin pointed if its a timing cover leak or oil pan lean yet. I will try and do that when I have it up on the ramps to change the oil. If theres a possibility the seal swellers will cause an issue I will cut the HM with some kendall 5w30 I have. 2001 Taurus is the car in question.

I have defy and now M1 HM. I have defy 5w30 from AZ but Im going to take it to walmart and exchange for defy 5w20.

The Acura currently has it in the 5w30 flavor...

Subjectively it seems to be making a dent in the mess Syntec Blend / MOA left behind and seems to be decreasing the smoke on start up...

Whether that is success or not is I suppose open to interpretation, but I have another 5 qt jug of it...

I have been using 5W-20 flavor in my Civic. It's been 3000 miles. I had a very minor valve cover seal leak and after using it 3000 miles it stopped. It is subjective but it runs my engine more quite.

After 3000 miles, the color is dark amber. I believe it is making some cleaning because of its relatively higher ester content (?)

I am planning to run it at least 7.5k.

What i like about there HM line is its still API SL,so a little beefier add pack if thats whats important to you.

I used defy 5 and 10 w30 in my gas pressure washer engines. I didnt need a hm oil per say but they never had a problem. Engines stayed clean as well.

I use M1HM in my 97 Camry, either 5/10W30, and it seems to work well. Valve cover was off at around 250K and mechanic described upper engine as spotless so 5K oci with M1HM is working well in this notorious slugger.

We were about to loose a 2003 5.3L GM due to not oil pressure on hot restarts. It seemed to be the common issue with oil pump (on front of engine) pressure relief valve sticking open.

It started it after a new dino 5w30 oil change with about 126K miles. I ran it about 160 miles with 1.5 oz of Seafoam per quart and the problem was not showing up replaced the leaking sending unit and the physical oil pressure was 35 PSI at idle.

When with 10W-40 M1 high mileage and at higher RPM's (over 3000) the gauge hand was unstable for about 100 miles and has been rock steady for the last year.

Have the same High Mileage in the air/oil cooled Polaris 325 engines. It is a high zinc and phosphorus as well as moly oil that is good for high temps as in racing too that someone mentioned.

We did not have leaks but I am sure it was good for a 10 year old engine.

We used it as the rebuild oil when putting the Polaris engines back together. It is some slick clinging oil for sure. The moly is a plus in my book.

I ran M1 HM 5w30 in my Camaro for a couple of change intervals starting at ~145k miles.
It seemed to get darker faster than the M1 I had been running in it all its life, so maybe it was doing some cleaning.
The thing I definitely noticed was that oil consumption decreased by ~25%.

Mobil Super HM 5w30 stopped a leak in my Accord. Tried the Mobil Super HM in 5W-20 and the leak is back. Going back to the 5-30 next change.

I think if some studied these specs on M1 High Mileage more would use it unless they drove new vehicles all of the time.

Nice find! I've been here a long time and never seen that chart before!

Really? been posted many times.

I usually don't pay attention to M1 threads due to the high iron comments and bashing.

Yea..

I've been using the M1 HM 10W40 for the past year (2 OCI and due for 3rd) and have had success with it. I know it's not scientific, but the light varnish under the oil cap has diminished noticeably during this time. Now, my Jag is not a leaker (surprised), nor does it burn oil really (maybe 1/2 quart over 7,500 miles) but I chose this HM oil not for its seal-swell properties but because it was a fully synthetic oil in 10W40 which can be hard to find.

I really like this oil, especially in the summer, but winter starts below 30F are a little slow and I'm considering going M1 HM 5W30 in the winter.

I put 3100 miles on my car in just over 3 mos and the oil is close to the add mark.. Its never been this low at this mileage time before! Maybe I should not be using the 0w30 German Castrol in my civic? I do mostly short trip driving and with the last 2 months being very cold , who knows.. I may have to get things checked out..
