Who changes brands every oil change?

Why would you?
 
If I had a car that could use lots of different oil and didn't already have a stash, I'd probably change it up every oil change too. Why not?
 
im not convinced it matters much at all. I usually run the same oil, but occasionally ill switch it up. Synpower has been treating me well so ive been using a lot of that in my truck and Armada. The older cars get Trop Artic and my bike Always gets M1 MC oil.

I don't do this, but I have witnessed this.

Many people I encounter get an oil change wherever it is cheapest, and they accept whatever brand is in use. It doesn't appear to make a difference in engine longevity, so long as the oil changes were performed on time.

You asked the same question here just about 1 year ago. It wasn't that long ago you were positively gushing over how wonderful supertech oil was, and now you've decided to use a different oil each time? Have you considered just making up your mind and sticking to something?

Just contact Pablo for some Amsoil and call it done.

What about if you want the least amount of varnish like Merkava?
 
I used to change constantly because I always chased sales so I'd use whatever I'd bought cheap from my stash. Never a problem. Lately I've been trying to get each vehicle in my little "fleet" on just one oil for it and keep it on it. So I watch for sales on those oils now.

Long term there may be some benefits to sticking with one oil, I don't know. I do know that Pennzoil conventional has turned in some outstanding used oil analysis in the Jeep 4.0 in the last year. The common factor for all of them is that they had been using Pennzoil conventional consistently for some time prior to the UOA.

It varies depending on how dark the oil gets. Last OCI was 3,776 miles and I probably should've drained the oil out sooner. The car doesn't get enough freeway miles; otherwise I'd take it to 5,000.

I'd recommend next you try Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5w30, since it'll be thicker than any 10w30 you've tried so far. I was going to recommend Delvac Elite 222 0w-30, but the only way you're getting that is if I send it to you myself. And if I were you, I wouldn't trust me, since I'd probably have opened the bottles and put TGMO in there.

My 3.8L Buick LeSabre back in the day worked fine on Pennzoil Conventional but I can't say it was ever that smooth.


I usually stay with Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra now in the Japanese portion of my fleet.

Although I have experimented with Havoline dino and Edge Black bottle lately.

The BMW dealer is in the process of converting the German cars from Castrol to Shell soon.

That just leaves the Cummins RAM with Chevron Delo 15w40. I guess I should move it to T3 but I like the extra boron and moly in the Delo.
 
My last few vehicles have gotten whatever group 3 oil that was on sale and whatever quality filter that came with it. I've used O'Reilly, Napa, PP, Mobil Super Synthetic on those that I can think of. No issues.

My two current vehicles have oil and filters for their next few oil changes so they will get the same for at least a couple years (8-12k per year is what either vehicle gets, depending on if a long road trip is done).
