Whirlpool top load W10468410. Went downstairs to throw the washed clothes onto the dryer, and the washer was stopped (not sure at what point it had stopped). Normally a green light will be on indicating which part of the cycle it's on, along with the red lid lock light. In this case, only the red light was on. I pushed the Start/Stop button for a few seconds to unlock the lid, and found that the washer was full of water.

I have tried the various resets on YouTube videos and none have worked. When I push the button to start it, the fill light comes on (even though it's full) and I can hear something lightly running (maybe a pump? not sure).

Any ideas? Control board maybe?

did you try holding the start-stop button until the washer starts to drain? try both with the lid closed and open.

Usually there is a paper service manual inside the machine with some tips for self-test and troubleshooting. Be careful not to get shocked.

sounds like bad pump.
Winner winner chicken dinner! I discounted this possibility at first, because I couldn't get it to go through any of the reset procedures. After manually lowering the drain hose when it should have been draining, and draining it that way, I eventually got it to go through a reset and start a new cycle. Long story short, I found a broken shaft in the drain pump.

Good deal. I just put a pump in mine it’s not hard.
