I've been considering it for a while, and the urge to try Amsoil is not going away.
Recently a buddy of mine tried it, and he likes it in his cars (switched from synpower) Since he knows I'm on here, he's been bugging me to try it as well. Granted, I know pretty much anything is overkill (synthetic wise) for my Ecotec (Known to be easy on oil), which is why it normally runs on anything on sale (currently Quaker State Ultimate Durability) And with all the oils, I wonder which line I could use. So this would be a two fold question:
1-Better to do an OCI once or twice a year? Car doesn't see high amount of miles (maybe 3-7k tops), and sits when there is salt on the ground (sat pretty much all of Jan). is not an everyday driver (2x a week), and when out...can see some "spirted" driving.
2- Which line should I use? Protection is the key issue, not cost. Engine is in great shape, and protection from cold starts (and help when sitting) and from the spirted driving.
My quick thoughts : OE line 2x/year Or SSO/1x w/ possible filter change.
Quick specs: 2004 Cavaler, Ecotec engine/20k, my 3rd/toy
My others will still get the deals, but I think I want to try something new with this one. Your thoughts?
