I just picked up a new 2025 Ram 1500 with a Hemi 5.7, I'd like to convert the truck to Valvoline synthetic oil but Im noticing there are a few choices available, Valvoline Advanced, Valvoline Extended Protection and Valvoline Restore and Protect, Is there a big difference between these 3 oils ?? I'm looking at 5000-7000 mile oil change intervals, Any recommendations from this very knowledgeable forum is very welcome ..

Nice truck! I’ve always used Valvoline Advanced in my 2017 GMC with a 5,500 mile interval. 113k and no issues.

How did you get a 5.7 Hemi in a 2025 Ram 1500? I thought the hemi wasn’t coming back until the 2026 model year.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Valvoline synthetic engine oils with reasonable OCI. Judging by the low aluminum and iron numbers on the UOA posted here on Bobistheoilguy. As far as Valvoline Restore and Protect can't go wrong there with it's infused pixie dust. :D

Did you do a first OCI at 500ish miles? Ford Boss really likes Valvoline products. Probably cant go wrong with any. Maybe run the EP for 50k miles then run some Valvoline Restore and Protect for 20k for some piston and ring cleaning? Just a thought. Although im sure just runni g the Valvoline Restore and Protect will be fine. 5k intervals.

I always say, when in doubt use Valvoline, when picking a engine oil, the EP 5w-30 is a very good oil or the Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w-30 is also a excellent choice too. do a couple of early changes ,800 miles and 2k miles ,then 5k with a good name brand filter like Fram ultra or Wix XP..the difference between the EP and Valvoline Restore and Protect is more cleaning ability on the later mentioned, plenty of threads on the Valvoline Restore and Protect .

I personally like the EXTENDED PROTECTION HIGH MILEAGE 5W30. in my hemi ......... definately run 5W30............ best add pack of all there oils ..350+ moly and alot of zinc..... NO TICK

I like Valvoline. I run the Advanced 5w30 in my Tundra my Wifes 4runner and my daughters Hyundai Santa Fe. I did buy a used Rav4 for my other daughter that has restore and protect in it. I am only doing 2 or 3 oil changes with that, Than just advanced for all 4 cars.

Go 5 changes on the R & P! Commit to the process! Thats what Im doing. Then back to rebate oil specials! Just got 10qts of Castrol EDGE Extended Performance for $30 (after $30 rebate).

New car, new engine and zero miles? 5~7k OCI?
I would not use any special oil: long life, extended drain, Valvoline Restore and Protect.....
They all have additive package for the specific condition.
Since your new engine does not have any condition, I would use a synthetic oil with a normal additive package and high quality petrol
