Which type of lubrication for this exhaust valve?

Hello my friends,

I have 10 pneumatic valves built into my exhaust system. I experience some errors like valves not being totally open or close. I found out that this is because the mechanism is dried out.

I just sprayed some good old WD40 into the exhaust through the tips and immediately I see the valves closing correctly like they should. But maybe there is a better or more specific oil for this purpose?

It needs to stand the roughness of driving in dry or wet conditions. (No snow or salt). But it may not be to greasy. Grease will add dirt because of its stickyness.

What would you suggest and why?

Thank you in advance!

I would use this after freeing it up, it works well on turbo wastegates. I have seen things similar to this on wastegates that had a protective shield around them with a cutout for the rod to move. Someone with a little fab skill could make something really slick and mig tack weld it to protect them from splash water without hindering movement.

for metal on metal inside the exhaust piping? maybe something graphite based. external, a good high temp grease, e.g. HHS-K.
I believe thats a powder right? I have the experience that it is super difficult to put on and it will not stay on ....

I would work the valves with Aerokroil and clean them as best as you can and then apply a high-temp dry lube

There is no Aerokroil over here in Europe unfortunately. I assume that a good penetrating oil will do the job?

Allright! There is one company over here who sells this but their webpage is offline. Ill have to make a search or order it in the US.

I still have to drive with those valves for now until I got the right lubrication. Can I just use Fluid film for the time beeing?

Protection plate has to be made. I think you'r really right about that. There is juist almost 0 space to make something like that. Many welders and metal specialists turned me down or didn't succeed the project what I had in mind. The project was. Original mufflers and making a bypass around them so I can have the original silence when I want and I can go loud when I want.

Was looking up an aircraft issue this am and came across this. Another aircraft engine manual recommended MM or "spray MoS2", but I would defer to Trav;

Mouse Milk Penetrating Oil - Every 50 Hours:
RAM Aircraft strongly recommends that the wastegate butterfly shaft and the wastegate actuator shaft be thoroughly lubricated with Mouse Milk penetrating oil every fifty hours, or at any time the manifold pressure seems sluggish. The Mouse Milk can be applied using a common oil squirt-can. Mouse Milk penetrating oil is available at most aviation supply houses.

Fluid Film would burn right off. For temp use go with kroil or PB blaster. But like others said you want anti-sieze.

Mouse Milk Penetrant and Wastegate Cleaner seem to be the same formula according to their SDSs, ~55% naphthenic oil, ~35% toluene, ~5% IPA and ~2.5% methylisobutyl ketone. This will clean the assemblies but really won't lubricate them. I recommend that anyone using these products should read the SDSs.
