Which state has better food at a restaurant, Massachusetts or California

I have been in Utah 13 years-I'm still looking for Mexican Food on par with Southern California where I moved from.
We moved from SoCal 14 years ago and we started making our own. We're not Hispanic, but we know what authentic food should taste like, so through online recipes and trial and error we've come up with a few dishes we make on occasion that remind us of "home".

If anyone is in the South Bay Area of the greater SF Bay Area, try Luna in the Pruneyard shopping center in Campbell. Sue and I had lunch there last week. We’d never been there before. It was really great Mexican food. I’m sure @JeffKeryk is familiar with it.

Better than Vive Sol in Mountainview, the best Mexican food I have had? I could see this place from my office and accounted for the weight gain despite keeping very active in the gorgeous California weather! Great family run restaurant, and now apparently, they are a small local 'chain'.

We’ll have to try that out sometime. Thanks for the lead. If I was restricted to just one ethnic food type for the rest of my life it would probably be Mexican. Part of living in California my whole life I suppose.

Anyplace where Shankikwa isn’t working. Those talon like fake fangernails are nasty E. Coli spreaders….. When I see those on anyone working in a restaurant or fast food joint, I leave immediately.

My Son worked on commercial dishwashers for a 4 billion dollar chemical company. Let's me just say this. It's what you DON'T SEE that should scare you.

And FYI-Chinese restaurants tend to be the worse.

Yep even something as seemingly simple as the typical icemaker that is WAY overlooked on cleaning/disinfecting cycles and many would be surprised as to what lives in them.

I work with a guy from CA and he stated that there is nothing nearby that can compete withe the worst Mexican food in CA. I believe him.

However, after moving from MA to NH I can honestly say I miss the food (only). We are only 20 miles from the border, yet McDonalds is the busiest place here. Yuk. My wife and I have become better cooks though :)

I agree. I spent my whole life in CA, then in my early 40s moved to the Midwest 15 years ago. We found some decent Mexican places around here, but nothing competes with Southern CA Mexican cuisine.

I found that the Mexican places in the Midwest, even if run by native Hispanics, tend to cater to Midwestern palettes more often than not.
