My Cruze has worn both its snow and all-season tires to near the end of their life. I only want to purchase one set of tires for it this year. It has a set of 3 year old all-seasons at 3/32" and a set of 5 year old snow tires varying between 7/32" at the edges and 5-6/32" in the centers. The all-seasons would likely get replaced whenever replacements go on sale, while the snows could be run until December 2016 or so. I'm leaning toward burning off the snow tires since they're marginal for another season, and are the older set. Agree or disagree?

How bad were the snows this past winter? I'd probably risk another season on them, since worn out (5/32" or less) snow tires may be better than equivalent all-seasons at the same tread depth. The half of the tread with the best compound is mostly gone, but the outside blocks, which are still pretty meaty, will help.

Ya know, I did run some studded snow tires at right around 5/32 and they did quite well. It was one of those "am I gonna dump this car" moments.

It's still winter? It's been 85-90 for like 3 weeks here.
Keep your snows on throughout spring and summer til winter and then get new winter set. I would try selling your 3/32 all seasons as a set for 50-100$.

Yup. Sounds like you can get one more season out of those snows. Unless you live very rural and need nothing but top-notch worst case scenario traction, which I guess is possible.

You can always offload a half worn set of snow tires on CL
That's what I do.. I got 80 bucks for a set of garbage Chinese snow tires the GF had when I met her.. They still had tread but not much. The person who bought them was OK with it!

I'm an idiot when it comes to selling used things. In this case, I would end up telling the person that the tires were down to minimum usable tread and probably get nearly nothing for them.

I ended up putting on the all-seasons. The snows didn't have any measurable wear in the 2 months they were run this winter.
I'd run the all-seasons too. Snows might be good for another winter..
Or could possibly craigslist them. The all-seasons are worth nothing.

IIRC, a study found 90% of tire punctures/damage occurs in the last 10% of usable treadlife.
