Hi I'm new here to the forum
I currently have a 1999 Toyota Camry V6 with 130k. I am a student and commute about 30 miles total a day. Since I bought the car last year at 120k I have been using 5w-30 Mobil super high mileage and my car started to leak oil from my valve cover, i will be replacing it next week.
Recently O'Reilly has a sale for 5 quarts of castrol gtx SynBlend or castrol gtx high mileage with a wix filter. From the two oil which one is better overall protection, the 1mz-fe engine is known to have sludging problems. Hope to hear all of your opinions. thanks

Stick with Mobil super 5000. No need for full synthetic in a beater with a high mileage engine of questionable longevity anyway, and MS5000 is one of the very best conventional oils out there.

If you can buy Castrol GTX high mileage or SynBlend with a Wix filter on sale for cheap then they are okay to use, of these 2 choices I would go with SynBlend . You may want to change oil after valve cover gasket is replaced, not before. As stated above, Mobil Super is a very stout oil, another good conventional oil is Pennzoil Yellow Bottle (PYB). To save some money, look at "Rebate, Sale, Promotion" sub-forum you will find many oil and filter on sale post there.
