Well....maybe i can shed some light here as im a Nissan Technician. FWIW...
The nissan filters are NOT made by Fram, they are made in Japan by another japanese company (name escapes me.) I would go with either nissan (theres much better out there though) Baldwin, or Pure One (friend uses it on his 02' SE-R SpecV).
i would definetely, w/out a doubt however, try to find a larger filter than stock (longer at least) as the stock one is pathetically small. its ridiculous actually.
for oil. definetely, use Mobil 1 0w-40. my friend has used it almost exclusively (aside from two changes with GC 0w30 and he is going back to it next change as am I) since 2500 miles. he has NO consumption (rarity w/ this engine) and hes hasnt even had the ECM re=programmed for the campaign.
nor has his exhaust campaign been completed. usually these two are what helps cut down on heat/consumption. but people are losing enignes over it when the catalyst brteaks up and gets sucked back into the engine. ooppss..said too much.
anyways, your not affected by this campaign. you already have the revised ECM code for cold start and idle. but, id still use Mobil 1 0w-40 or GC 0w30 only because ive seen decent pragmatic results. however, ive not seen any scientific results to back up this claim.
