Which of these filters should I buy.

I will soon be placing an order with Rock Auto ans stocking up on Oil Filters.

Fortunately my Toyota PU, my Triumph Spitfire and my ride on lawn mower ALL take the same filter, so I intend to get a good supply.

Here are my choices:

STP $1.39

Hastings $1.51

Pronto (economy) $1.54

Bosch (OE equivalent) $1.98

Mann $2.45

Champion Labs $3.06
 
Is none-of-the-above an OK answer? Fram Ultra
If was forced to choose among the low-performing ones you listed, I'd say Mann
 
Unless you are driving 15k miles a month buying cheap oil filters is really not a sensible way to try to save money.

Out of that list, I'd use the Hastings without a second thought.

At these prices, the Mann is probably a rebadged Purolator, not a high quality European Mann. Same with the Bosch.

My choice would be "none of the above".

The list above are all basic, entry-level filters for your application typically seen at quick lube places. The exchange rate, shipping charges and customs/brokerage charges doesn't make shopping at Rock Auto worth it at all.

You may be better off going to your local NAPA or Auto Value and picking up a NAPA ProSelect or Parts Master for roughly the same price (if not, cheaper).

And the Bosch is 'offered by Bosch'

At least the Mann says it has a silicone ADV, could it be the real deal?

I'll be crossborder shopping to collect this order, so it should be worthwhile for me.

Locally I have a choice of very expensive Fram, Fram, Fram, Purelator or Fram. So for once I am bewildered by choice.

Rock also offer several 'types' of AC Delco??

Bosch WS, workshop, is what they call OE. I would stay away from those, I had a big defect on one. Speaking of OE, check if they have the Denso with the blue can, very nicely built. Also I remember buying a case of 10 Toyota OE filters for about $35 delivered. Not tax and no time and no cost of driving. Sometimes I wish I had stuck to the plan of using the Toyota brand, and forget about all this back and forth about oil filters.
 
out of the ones you listed Hastings hands down. Just ordered some $1.30 hastings filters for my Tundra, and I'm very impressed with their quality. They are as good if not better than the Toyota OEM filters. The Mann U.S. made filters are not high quality. The STP and Champ labs are eco core design I believe, so I would definitely steer clear of those.
Bosch is ok quality, but for about 25% less, you can get a better quality hastings filter.
 
I'm not sure, but Baldwin/Hastings have always had a long standing reputation for being great filters!

Casite is Hastings' economy line, similar tow Wix's Pro-Tec/Napa Silver/Proselect/Microgard

Probably OK to use, but not quite as good as Hastings Premium.

Since you're in Canada, I'd suggest you go to Carquest if there's one nearby, because their house brand filters are made by Baldwin up there. (same company as Hastings) The Canadian CQ Red is probably similar to Casite, while the CQ Blue is most likely the same as Baldwin/Hastings.

It's an 84 22R. I can't remember er the last time I paid less than the equivalent of $5 US inc taxes for a filter here, and that would have been the Canadian Tire version of a basic Fram.

then just get one of the top tier filters.

I checked Rock for your truck's applications, and the prices aren't that great, not much clearance. But, Id choose Wix or Wix XP, Fram Ultra, or Hastings.

The Mann listed for your application is a reboxed L10241. If you want a real German Mann, there is the W712/38.
 
Hastings is the right choice.

Or you can buy all those filters for the price of one (1) FRAM Ultra.

I recently ordered a bunch of the clearance filters from RockAuto for my Fusion.

Got a bunch of Hastings - The real hastings, not the Casite ones - which seem like pretty solid filters
Also got some 'Federated' which is just basically the 'bulk' Hastings, but when sat side-by-side with the true Hastings filters, are essentially indistinguishable except for the printing on them.
Also picked up a few of the Valvoline filters, which almost look to be rebadged Puros, but I can't really be sure.

Since I paid between $1.01 each for the Valvoline filters, I'll probaby just run them for 3,000 - 5,000 miles on a decent Dino.

The hastings and Federated for $1.30 each - I figure they can handle the standard 7,500 OCI.

.. Go with the Hastings, but make sure they're either the 'proper' Hastings, or the 'Federated' Hastings.
