Which Motor Oil for a performance setup?

Hello guys,
I am curious to know which oil I should run in my new motor. It is in a 1994 Chevrolet Impala SS.

Forged low-compression shortblock
AirFlow Research LT4 aluminum heads
Melling high volume oil pump
ATI Procharger- not self contained so this will be using the same oil as the engine

The car is driven about 1,000 miles per year. I rarely drive it but when I do it spends a lot of time at 100% throttle. This setup makes 501 rear wheel horsepower.

For the break-in period I was running Valvoline 10w30 and an AC-Delco filter. Now that the break-in is complete should I switch to something synthetic? I ran Mobil 1 in the stock engine. The car sits in an air conditioned/heated garage. Here in NC the weather is moderate and very humid. If anyone needs additional info let me know.

Wow, nice engine!

I wouldn't use a standard conventional 10w30 in it after break-in.

Not an expert, but Redline 10w30 would most likly work well. If you like M1 products, 0W-40 or Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 would most likely work well. If you like Amsoil products, I'd try their RD 30 (10W-30)racing oil.

Procharger using the same oil as engine? Move up to an XXw40. Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic 5w40 is popular as well as Mobil 1 0w40. Castrol Syntec 0w30 (aka German Castrol) is a good candidate because it is on the upper end of XXw30's based on viscosity at 100c

I would have used a break in additive .
With that power, you are creating a lot of heat, and a synthetic would be a good idea.
A lot more stress and loading of oiled surfaces, too.

any boosted engine should run a synthetic. M1 or PP is the most economical vs redline or amsoil. I would use a different filter than that AC delco though.

Price is not a concern. I figure paying an additional $5 per quart of oil is worth saving an $8k engine and a $4k supercharger setup.

So it appears I should run a Mobil 1 synthetic...? Will 10w30 be good?

What's wrong with an AC-Delco filter? I noticed on my last filter that they have changed the appearance. Instead of about 6 large holes in the top it's now 5 smaller ones. What oil filter is recommended?

the highly regarded Wix/napa gold, or pureone. Not sure about the K&N oil filter other than they (K&N) boast about it's flow rate. the M1 is supposed to be ok. Most people who have a gripe with a filter do so because of the cardboard endcaps and rubber ADBV...."superior" filters will have metal endcaps and a silicone ADBV and a good flow rate. I can honestly say i have never had a problem with any filter I have used (supertech, pureone, wix, honda, fram, mopar) but you should know now that people on this board are pretty OCD and nothing is overlooked or un-questioned.
