I have used both the Fleetguard Microlock Stratapore (LF3806) and regular papered Fleetguard filter (LF3349) in my 92 Dodge Cummins diesel. My oil pressure seemed less with the Stratapore, also the regular fleetguard seemed to absorb more oil in filling it at oil change, noticeable on dipstick. I am concerned with the apparent less oil pressure with the stratapore. There is $5.00 Canadian difference in two filters. I change oil at 6000kms or 4,000 miles. I know the newer Dodge Cummins recommend this Stratapore, is it also right for my older 1992 5.9 Cummins diesel?
thanks,

Just found out this morning that apparantly Dodge Cummins will not warrantee many jobber oil filters due to problem with the heat of oil melting filters in Cummins diesels. To my understanding, Fleetguard makes the Dodge Cummins filter based on someone elses comments in another forum somewhere. Hope Fleetguard is on Dodge Cummin's list of acceptable filters, apparently there is a list of acceptable filters from Dodge, anyone know the contents of this lis? I wander if the paper is safer than the fibreglass for heat?

I thought there was some connection between Fleetguard and Cummins, no? Isn't Fleetguard the Cummins blessed filter of choice?

Fleetguard/Nelson is either a business unit or division of Cummins.
