Which Dexron VI for 06' chevy 4L60E

DEXRON-VI fluid was required to pass all of the DEXRON-III(H) tests but most of those tests were increased duration but with the same limits. In addition the DEXRON-VI specification contains a number of additional requirements that were not in the DEXRON-III(H) specification. In addition to that further test hours and mileage has been clocked up on both dyno and fleet testing. The durability of a DEXRON-VI 'blend' is typically about two to three times greater than a DEXRON-III 'blend', even a synthetic one.

better than the synthetic version of dex3?? k, next question, would it be ok to do drain and fills mixed with the current dex3 in my transmission? eventually leading to mostly dex6 in time with drain and fills.

GM hasn't listed Toyota transmissions in their list of vehicles DexronVI is good for. Toyota hasn't backspec'd DexVI for their transmissions that require DexronIII. Sure, go for it! I personally would like to see many more non-GM DexronVI test candidates.

What durability of DexronVI is 2-3 times greater then full synthetics like RP, M1, RL, Ams....??

i want to know how you can prove that its more durable than the dex3 syns too! if yota hasnt backspec'd it then ill pass on the dex6 (i am not a test subject lol) and stick with dex3 syn (probably M1 bc its readily available)

Quite simple. It has been tested back to back with DEXRON-III for comparison. Tests include, but are not confined to:
GM Oxidation test
GM Cycling test
GM Plate clutch friction test
Anti- shudder durability test
GM Band friction test
KRL shear stability test
EHD film thickness (Imperial College, London, England.)
Some, but not all of the results are published in SAE paper #2006-01-3242 which can be obtained via the SAE website. other comparative test results were also shown by GM in their presentation in Detroit back in 2005 when the release of DEXRON-VI was announced.

Toyota obviously will not back-spec, or even current-spec, another OEM's fluid since they have one of their own. Toyota transmissions that are used by GM use Toyota fluid because that's what Toyota validated those transmissions on.

wolf. so is it ok for me to mix dex3 and dex6 together? i have dex3 in my transmission now, with drain and fills over time i would (maybe) like to transition over to dex6. is it ok to mix?

Well they will mix. The only thing is that when you 'dilute' DEXRON-VI with DEXRON-III you lose a good deal of the benefits.

interesting article read this

http://www.aa1car.com/library/atf.htm

now this is an excerpt from it..

Dexron-VI -- For 2006 GM Hydra-Matic 6L80 6-speed rear-wheel-drive transmissions, can also be used in 2005 transmissions that require Dexron III but is NOT recommended for older transmissions or Saturn VUE transmissions.

-- i guess this leaves me out.. besides aint nothin wrong with syn dexIII as long as i drain and fill every 15k miles like what i have been doing anyway

That's not correct. It's right about the Saturn though.
DEXRON-VI is fully backward compable and can be used in all current and earlier GM stepped gear automatic transmissions.
