Nissan badged their imports to the U.S. as Datsuns because they believed if the venture failed, it wouldn't reflect as badly on the parent company. This was according to David Halberstram in "The Reckoning," published in the mid '80s. A good read, paralleling Ford and Nissan from 1945 to 1985.

We had a 1968 Ambassador wagon that my brother and I pretty much put thru hell during high school, solid transportation.
Sadly; none.
I had a number of thoughts, but then thought more about what a modern Triumph, Sunbeam, AMC (loved the Javelin) would be meeting modern safety and emissions requirements and appealing to the current wider marketplace, and the idea lost its' appeal.
I had a vision of a modern Sunbeam Tiger with a turbo 4, paddle shifters, touch screens that tell me I am drowsy and a steering wheel that twitches if I get to close to the yellow line and I felt a little seasick

I Had a 1969 Fairlane 500 Sportsroof (Torino) 428 Cobra Jet with a top loader and hood scoop. Bought it used $780- in VG condition from a Statie no less in 1978. No rust. But it wasn't strong like my Chevelle SS396. Ford can keep that 9" too. FE motor slipped a piston pin and galled cyl #8. Then I was out of money so I had to sell it. Put a junkyard 390 block in it with the CJ heads.

That Cyclone pictured has had extensive body work around the grille and the bumper is narrowed and pulled in tight, etc
