Which brand would you choose?

Evening all. I need to buy a service kit for my 1.6 diesel Civic Mk9 soon. The two websites I usually use for parts have the following brands.

Honda Genuine Filter
Blue Print
Bosch
Mahle

Another website I use less often has
Mann
Nippart
Audura

For the last 2 services I have done I used the Honda Genuine. I feel that's probably the best option. The only other brands I'd probably consider are Mahle and Mann.

Would anyone pick any other brand other than the Honda genuine or should I just stick with that one?

Thanks. 🙂

So, it appears that Honda actually uses a different filter for the diesel engines. The shorty 15400-RZ0-G01 seems to be a Purflux LS933

Purflux uses those zig-zag pleats that give you more filter area for a given cartridge size.

Honda Genuine is a fram Orange can. i’d currently pick a PG made filter: Microgard select, STP XL, Carquest Premium.

OP is in Europe, where they use Purflux.

Is it safe to assume that since you are in England, the Mann and Mahle would be sourced from one of the European plants? If yes, I would go with one of those two. I've been very impressed with the Mann and Mahle filters that I have used, which came from Poland.

I didn't see any of these three filters, that you recommend, as available from the sources that @jtay2024 is considering buying from.

Mann is good, too-as long as it's made in EU!

I believe where I am from in the UK the Mann filters would be made in the EU.

Likely yes. I have used Mann & Mahle before and they felt good quality and were pretty heavy duty looking so they are good backup brands I suppose.

Mann, Mahle, Hengst, Purflux, etc

Not really, no.

It's just been mentioned that Purflux make the Honda Genuine. Which has tilted me towards that brand as I used to use Purflux on my Peugeot HDI engine. Their fuel filters were very well made from what I saw!

Interesting! That does make sense as the website I buy genuine Honda parts from does mention that the pleats have a different design giving more surface area. I used to use Purflux all the time in my old Peugeot HDI engine as they felt well made. Specially their fuel filters. I think I'll stick with the Honda genuine filter for this change then. (Image below is a Purflux HDI fuel filter which I used).
