Which 5W-20 ???

Used a lot of that Motorcraft 5W-20 "semi" synthetic over the years and probably because it was cheap. It's not so cheap now at $18.33 5 qt jug.

Not interested in extended oil changes. We ran the MC @ 5k OCI's.

Suggestions? 1.6L interstate driven Fiesta 4.2 quarts (25k annually). 3.0L Escape 6 quarts, mostly two-lane roads (less than 10k annually). 3.7L F-150 6 quarts,used to haul light loads and occasional trip (less than 10k annually)

When i cant get pennzoil platinum on sale or in the proper weight what have you, I usually get a 5 quart jug of quakerstate ultimate durability for 19 to 20 bucks. Its a good oil and highly regarded on this site. Also are you aware that alot if not all the newer fords allow up to 10k mile oil changes, I know you mentioned usually changing around 5k which is about what i do, just a heads up.

Since the OP is doing 5000 mile OCI's then the cheapest 5W-20 should be fine.

QS or Mobil conventionals are fine for 5K OCIs.

5K changes, the QS will do wonderfully.

At those prices I'd go with the ST if it's Warren (or Peak if you have an AZ around). Last time a checked, the specs looks a little better than the QS dino--higher VI, lower NOACK. Either of those would work great, IMO.

Why not stick with the Motorcraft blend? It's an excellent 5K mile oil and still reasonably priced. Plus it should have no problem going the recommend OCI in the owner's manual(5K miles +++) since it's what Ford uses.

Havoline may be of interest to you as well if you're looking to go conventional.

Quaker State or Mobil 5000. Possible nod to the Mobil simply because it's a newer formulation.

I have been using QS for 5k OCI's for 3-4 years now, & it is great. I know this is just my opinion, but I have pretty much switched to the QS oils now.

I know those 2 oil are not in the list. I have been using castrol gtx and chevron supreme for the last 4 years. no problem.

mobil super 5000 looking good.
