Replacing the battery in my Honda Pilot and need an AGM and was recommended to go with the Walmart Everstart vs the Duracell similar battery. Longer warranty on the Everstart of 4 years vs 3 years on the Duracell and the Everstart is usually about $20.00 less.

Supposedly both are made by East Penn in the US which I did find a label on the Duracell battery saying so at Sam's Club. However the Everstart has nothing on it or the label as to who made it or where. I have heard the west coast gets these from South Korea and a different manufacturer and the east coast from East Penn and the US. The only thing I see is the letters EPC by the barcode and wonder if that means East Penn Corp? I am in northeast Ohio. NOTE- I have both a H8 and a H6 pictured but will be purchasing the correct H6 for my car.

I looked up the price on the Walmart H6/48 EP-Deka Everstart AGM. About $180 + whatever the core deposit is. Rock auto sells the EP-Deka Intimidator AGM H6/48 for $221, including $18 core. Shipping on a battery can be not bad to terrible from RA, depending on how far you are from that battery jobber. RA usually beats most sellers on AGM batteries. Both are rated at 760 CCA, but I doubt they're the same battery. A bit surprising.

Deka branded AGMs are only 30 month warranties. The WM AGM replacement warranty is 48 months. Incidentally, I have a Deka AGM purchased 4 years ago that is still going strong. That vehicle sees a lot of short trips but just enough 20 mile trips to keep it alive.

The battery, (AGM), that I put in my Jeep was a Autozone Duralast Gold. In my Toyota, (standard FLA)), I went with a H6 Everstart from Walmart. The only reason I went to Autozone for the Jeep, is I wanted to be sure it was an exact match. With the vent tube nipple on the right side, and compared sizes.

I didn't want any aggravation or surprises because it is located under the passenger seat, and it's a bit of a pain to get it in and out of the well it sits in. All went well.

Now that I've replaced both, next time I'm going to see if Walmart's Everstart has one for my Jeep that is an exact fit. My older truck gets Everstart. All my batteries are lasting much longer, since I put them all on battery tenders that keep them 100% charged.

Follow up to thank everyone who commented on this post. I ended up getting the Everstart H6 Platinum AGM battery with an EP (east Penn) serial number from Walmart for $179.84. Of 5 stores within 45 minutes of me only one store had any in stock. I had an 8 year old spare failed battery from my back-up electric sump pump that I used as the core return to avoid having to exchange the batteries in the parking lot, having Walmart install it, or going back at a later date for the $12.00 core charge refund with the battery from the car.

48 months of warranty which the clerk said was a 100% replacement with no pro-rated use deduction. The Duracell from Sam's Club also made by East Penn only had a 36 month warranty and there are a lot less Sam's Clubs through out the country which if I had a problem while traveling may have been a hassle. Frosting on the cake is I purchased during the Ohio "Tax Holiday" so no sales tax paid for this purchase!
