Where USA citizens spend their $

I can tell in my neighborhood that people don’t spend money on their house and yards anymore. When I was growing up, 4 out of 5 houses were well maintained, now it’s 1 out of 5 are well maintained.
I can see that. Next door folks were often winning yard of the month etc … he died - then she hires a company to remove four gorgeous live oak trees he was so proud of - but she did keep a few things looking good. She moved to care facility about 3 years ago. New owners butchered the landscaping - now just cut the grass.

Great Graph IMHO. Eating and drinking OUT IS big business. I don't like the melding of all-in-one for Ecommerce, but I get it. Pretty sure there are quite a lot of the lower ranked items in that category of course. This is really about malls dying (again)

With my short 44 years on this planet malls seem to be a revamped idea every 30 years. Mainly due to local municipalities offering tax incentives. When I was in elementary-high school malls were the place. Then mega-malls, now outdoor style malls.

Yes same here. Original owners on both sides were pretty good. Current owners seem to think mowed weeds count as a lawn. I have one strip of non weeds in between. HOA finally sent out a nasty gram about weeds. There a decade late.

The problem with a chart that lumps "e-commerce" into one thing is distorted. For example I am about to buy lawn fertilizer form Amazon. I would have bought it from Lowes 10 years ago.
Yup, it was same day delivered to my house a few days ago from Amazon.
In fairness, I also got it from Walmart.com also in the last year or so.
Much of the fertilizer sections in the home improvement stores are a real mess now. Moisture soaked bags everywhere, get the crap all over you and unswept floors you have to walk on.

I now buy fertilizer from farm and feed stores. Even Tractor Supply will have sales incentives

Think of the money you would save by not owning a vehicle or even driving cheap used vehicles. I have lost lots of money on a total of 6 Corvettes through the years but the fun was worth the cost. That's not counting all the other vehicles hahaha.

I'd save $800+/month if the public transportation was robust enough to cover my daily commute. Less chances to run into impaired or bad drivers too.

I'd like to see the category "disposable dishware and take out containers" on that graph.

Once I heard "take-away container sales are growing faster than the population".
