My late father’s good friend contacted me today. Loooking for SAE 40 for his 2 trucks with Detroit Diesel. Said if he has a Rural asking I’d try there or maybe tractor supply. Any suggestions? @A310 where you get your rotella?

Sinopec sae 40 cf-2 is a go to for a friend of mine. Always see buckets of it at his shop since he owns old dump trucks for his business, refuses to buy new. Yeah it's china owned but the oil is made in singapore I think or somewhere else in asia that's not china but it's cheap. 70 bucks shipped for a pail is decent. Hope it allows shipping where you're at as I've read that can be an issue.

We have low oil pressure issues on Rotella after running off shore. Delo doesn’t do it to us.
What are your oil pressures at idle and running? DD specs are 4psi at idle and 30-40 at rpm. DD oil pumps are a volume pump and not considered a high psi pump.

If you have an indy parts store local that handles Chevron oil, they should be able to source the 100 through their Chevron supplier.

I recall in the past that we tried to use a different oil due to supply issues and we found that it didnt have the low ash content that Detroit recommends for the 2 strokes. As I recall it was a name brand monograde but after investigating it was out of spec.
According to the Rotella spec sheet it is compliant and meets the DD spec. https://shop.sclubricants.com/pub/media/pds/shell/Shell-Rotella-T1-40-datasheet.pdf

5 day shipping for free isn't too bad, but that's in my area. dunno if that holds up for not that far north of LA
