Where to buy tires?

i have the grabber hts tires on my escape, about 5k miles on them, so far they ride better than the crossterrains, and handle great! too early to judge wear. They are excellent in the rain.
We are considering those, and the Michelin LTX M/S2- we have the original LTX M/S on it now, and they are great.
Buy them from TireRack or DiscountTire on line if nobody is willing to price match it locally (factoring in shipping and install charges)
Is your dad retired NAVY? Check out the NEX if he is.
Discount tire direct will usually match online quotes as long as shipping costs are included from the competitor. Find your size and price and there is a found it lower e-mail us link on their site. I had the Goodyear Comfortred all season tires on a minivan and they weather cracked in a couple years and they only had 20,000 miles on them. There is probably a difference in the Grand Touring model to the All-Season model. The truck tires are probably a good choice. LTX M/S were good tires for me. Looking forward to hear about the MS2 reviews but it may take a while because they probably will last 50-70K Miles for many people.
I'd say TireRack - we order dozens of tires from them each year, and have had great success.
I'm on my fourth Expy and second Navigator; the best tires I've found are ContiTracs. Excellent wearability (40K miles av'g) and good wet/dry traction. I've used Scorpions, Grabbers (highly rated, but I like the Contis better - they wear like iron), Michelins and the aforementioned Conti's.
The LTX is a decent all-season tire, but, I like to use a dedicated winter tire, preferrably studded, mounted on a second set of wheels for the nasty winters we get around here on the Exp'y and Blizzaks (impressed the heck out of me, an old time "studs only" guy) on the Nav. I'm going to go with Nokians this year, since I need some new gums for the Exp'y.

Tire rack is good place to buy tires. But plus shipping and pay local tire shop for mounted/balanced, umm it did cost pretty much same as I buy from local tires shop.
I have firestone destination, great tires. Haven't chance to drive on snow/ice yet. Check firestone, my local has buy 3 get 1 free special.
But for mustang, I will put snow tires in rear instead of allseason.

Well, the mustang will not be driven in the winter, it will be put in insurance suspension and parked in the garage. But the OE tires are pretty much worn out with 35k on them.

You probably want something stickier for the Mustang. Assurance ComforTred Tourings are best suited for family sedans. I would consider a set of these:

I would also look into local, independent tire shops if you plan to stay in the area for a while. They can sometimes be even cheaper than Tire Rack.

Couple of items. Shop price at DTD or TR then get a local tire vendor to price match,or come close. You want to deal with only 1 vendor for purchasing AND mounting of the tires. You want to get lifetime free rotations and balancing and honoring of the warranty by the vendor from which you purchase. Rotate the tires in compliance with the warranty(for free) and get your pro rated credit,when the tires wear out early. Hope this helps.
Where I live none of the "local" tire dealers do anything but charge you a fortune for the tires then charge you to mount and balance the tires and do not offer free tire rotation. So I'm better off buying from Discount Tire Direct. I save a lot on the tire purchase price plus save on the sales tax and get rebates that the local dealers don't offer. And I still pay the same tire mounting and balancing price. For me it's a win/win situation ordering from Discount Tire Direct. But that's just me where I'm at.
