Any stores have them without having to buy online,i need it today.

Thanks

If your filter is small enough, a 3" pipe cutter will do the job fine. It just won't fit the bigger filters.

I tried with the hack saw,but the darn filter is to thick(wix)
and the pipe cutter costs too much.I was thinking of using my sawzawl, but it would make a mess lol.

Ill buy one on line,i guess ill just have to wait.
Anyone know of a good quality one that will last?

Thanks fellow oil & filter addicts.

Sawsall, at the seam, works just fine.

One from Summit racing has been recommended here before -- I ordered it and it seems to work well for me too. I don't remember the price offhand but IIRC it's pretty inexpensive.

It ends up being about $40 no matter how you do it. It's the one I settled on.

So many oil accessories ...so few $$$

These cover most of it. You get into 3 camps.

1. hacksaw / sawsall

2. Rotatory cut (dremel / air cutter)

3. Dedicated cutter

And in that order in cost.

Take care, Bill

Dedicated cutter sounds good,I'm looking into the Summit SUM-900510,hope it lasts.

To bad they don't have an electric automatic cutter, like the can openers lol.

Go to PepBoys and get the exhaust pipe cutter. I've been using that. In academic grade terms, I'd give it a solid B.

That's the tool I'm talking about behind all that Fram wreckage in the foreground.

I got the filter cutter from summit, the hacksaw method just got to be hassle especially since my vice broke.

It's like the sledge-o-matic..it slices, it dices it does everything! (as long as you're cutting oil filters)
