Some are obvious-others are steeped in obscurity. So for the benefit of all, where does your BITOG user name originate from?

Mine is my first name-michael. The 80 comes from an old Hotmail email address that no longer exists. When I first signed up for it michaelc was in use so it suggested michaelc80 and I continued to use it. Just makes it easy to have a standard username for forums that is not likely to be already in use.

Having to much Ben&Jerry's Cherry Garcia resulted in the equivalent of a headful of zombie. When the "ice pick" subsided I was grateful I wasn't a dead Deadhead -- yet I felt moribund.

Okay, I made the whole thing up. I just like obscure and macabre monikers.

PS: I always felt the ice-cream brand should be "Ben&Cherry." I suppose Jerry wasn't secure enough in his manhood to allow that.

Interestingly enough, mine comes from my nephew. I had an old Mazda B2000 when he was about 5 that smoked like crazy when first started. He called it the blue puffer, but to many perverts on the internet, so I modified it.

Mine comes from when I was in grad school (analytical chemistry). The first mass spectrometer I learned to use was a quadripole iontrap instrument. So I creatively came up with iontrap and have been using it since then.

My username on another board begins with Two. When I signed up here I wanted something somewhat consistent with the other name so it would be easy to remember, and something auto related. The name comes from me liking to buy vehicles more than I like to sell them.

And I thought Papa Bear was this guy:

Papa Bear?

My dogs of course. First thing that popped into my mind when I was signing up on Xpertsite to answer dog questions. Use it everywhere I post on the net.

Family and friends at my one dog's 11'th birthday party.

It is kind of complicated how I came up with my name 'Mystic.' My Dad a very long time ago used to use Champlin Hi-Vi motor oil. The first time I remember becoming very interested in motor oils was when I noticed all of the stuff on the top of the oil cans (back in those days, MS for severe duty, ML for light duty, MM for moderate duty, etc.) and I started to do some research about motor oil. The more I studied the more interested I became.

Later the company that had sold the motor oil my Dad used became Citgo, I believe. And Citgo is somehow involved with Mystik, a brand of oil that is still very popular in Oklahoma, where old Champlin Hi-Vi used to come from. My Dad told me that Mystik was a good motor oil but before he died he used Chevron. So you see, it is kind of complicated-I like the word 'Mystic' or 'Mystik' and in a way Mystik is kind of a descendant of old Champlin motor oil that my Dad used to use and the oil that caused me to get interested in motor oils. So I decided to use the name 'Mystic' here at bobistheoilguy.com.

But I never used Mystik motor oil very much. Throughout most of my life I have used Pennzoil, Quaker State, Valvoline, Chevron, Mobil 1, Halvoline, even Amsoil, and a few other brands. But because old Champlin was the motor oil that caused me to get interested in motor oils and because my Dad used to use it a long time ago, I decided to kind of honor my Dad by using 'Mystic.' Kind of a long story but there it is.

My Federal Communications Commission issued amateur radio call sign is K1XV. Hams often refer to each other by their call signs rather than their given names!!!

IN high school.. people noticed my caucasian like talking and attitude. I was also addicted to Diesel Duallies and I wore Ford t-shirts. For some reason.. people started to call me Korean_Redneck

Well my user name comes from a very important person and story in the rituals of Freemasonry. I started using it on several other forums and it just easy to use the same username everywhere. Plus it is kind of fun to say.

Boaz.... see you said it!

A few years ago someone at work started calling me Patman and the name just stuck! So when I got on the internet I started using it as my username everywhere.
