When installing body panels in new vehicles with high strength steel, you are not to weld them in, they make this epoxy that you apply and is as strong as a weld. Prevents weakening the steel.

Where can I source this, and what is a good brand name?

Yup, as mentioned, it's panel bond. 3M is most common. SEM and Lord Fusor are options. It is NOT, however, a replacement for a weld.

+1 Nothing is a decent substitute a proper weld job on sheet metal. Plastic panels to a steel skeleton sure, that what these products are really intended for.

It has its uses but not a cure all for welding. When I do rockers and quarter panels or any areas that are rust prone I like to use panel bond and then weld though the panel bond with the squeeze type resistance spot welder. Very strong and has the corrosion protection that can't be beat. Obviously I can't use the panel bond and mig weld through it.

I put in replacement rocker skins with Lord Fusor before. Strong stuff. The rest of the car fell apart before those connections did.
