Where can I get some .22 Magnum Ammo

I am just curious, but what is the appeal of 22WMR for you guys?

I guess personally, I have always felt it is somewhat of a solution seeking a question. I mean that because I don't really see the role it is designed to fill.

However, I would love to see somethingllike that Kel-Tec 30rd 22wmr pistol, but with some heavy Glock 18C influence... Port the barrel, a pair of vents in the slide, and 1200-1400rpm full automatic fire w 30rds fitting into the grip w/o extending outward. You could have a 60+ round magazine and still it would be more compact than an 18c hi-cap.
Better still, Take a few cues from Beretta and make it a true select fire weapon with a S/1/3/F trigger group. 3rds fired at 1400rpm or (a la the AN-94) 1800rpm would mean that you have three rounds hitting the target before you feel the recoil impulse from them all.

Due to the inherent qqualities of 22 cartridges, I would think that you could even implement an integral suppressor, taking cues from HK and their MP5SDseries and porting tthe barrel further, with the suppressor sleeving the barrel.

It probably wouldn't sell well at all, as my years of selling C3 firearms and other restricted devices have taught me that people who are bothering w the expense of FA + Suppressors, well, they want to have more powerful weapons. 22 Cans are actually extremely popular, but I sold maybe 1 select fire 22 for every 200 in larger calibers.

I got into the 22mag back in the early 90's for closer range varmint shooting. It was kinda the next best thing before getting out the center fires. Of course it's not leaps and bounds better than the 22lr but gives you a little more confidence. I have all my scoped 22lr rifles set at 50 yards and of my two 22mag rifles the scoped one is dialed in at I think around 80 yards. I've killed woodchucks with it at well over 100 yards but if you're going to be trying those shots on a regular basis might as well move on up to something else. Something with a little more knock down power. It's just a fun round with a bit more power than the 22lr. Too bad it cost so much more.
I actually don't shoot it in my rifles a lot lately but more so out of my inexpensive Heritage single action revolver. I think I bought it for like $150 somewhere over 5 years ago and it came with two cylinders, 22lr/22mag. With a 6.5" barrel the 22mag is fun to plink with. I've also gotten a few squirrels and a bunch of rabbits with it.
Honestly I think it's a cartridge not too many people use anymore. With the 17's out they are hard to beat. That or folks just get a .223 and beat them both.

When I was a kid, my dad and I would go out shooting in an old rock quarry. He had a 22 mag rifle and I had a 22 LR rifle. There was an old dump truck box in the quarry that was all shot up, so we both shot at it. My 22 LR round didn't do anything but put a lead smudge on the thick steel box, but the 22 mag actually penetrated through the steel plate ... I was amazed at the power difference.

I know that doesn't help, just kind of funny that we seem to have tons of .22 ammo (LR, Magnum...etc) and you guys are out. But we have very limited 12-gauge ammo.

Yep, OVERKILL and his Band of Canadian Hoarders (BCH) are holding us hostage down here.

As soon as he sends us some .22, we'll send him some large caliber ammo.

So far, it is a standoff.... Waiting for the BCH to make a move, EH!

Just to let some of you newer people know, OVERKILL and I have been kidding each other for some time about Canadian vs. American Ammo supplies, and that I have the utmost respect for him.

We have to hoard it in Canada, to make up for supply shortages before. Some American companies got caught up in red tape thanks to American end user reporting rules - or some clerk who was enforcing such reporting a little too vigorously.

Yesterday I went to CT to buy some ammo. Picked up 80 rounds of .223 for today and a couple hundred rounds of the dirt cheap Winchester 7 1/2" "Universal" stuff. I check for the 22 Magnum ammo and they had TONS of it, LOL! Probably 10 boxes of the CCI stuff sitting at the front of the cabinet, Winchester, Remington....etc

We are hoarding it, and doing so out in plain sight! Mwa-hahhahhahah
