When you have to follow code enforcement to a T, on your new house.

This is not new there are many "skinny" houses due to property line setback rules. Those are zoning, not code. Due diligence when buying a small lot.

Of course it's waterfront property. I'm glad the town is enforcing their rules fairly and didn't allow some rich guy to just do it wrong then buy the permit after the fact. It's fair for the neighbors; if the land had more land, it would have cost more.

550 feet x 80 feet is an acre. If you have 35 foot setbacks the house can only be 10 feet wide.

Maybe he’s building it out spite to block the house uphill’s lake view due to some dispute?

I wonder if they can hang a deck or sunroom off of it. Maybe the foundation can’t be any closer than x feet to the property line. I can appreciate spite but it seems like a lot of work for an almost unusable house.
