When using a chainsaw, wear PPE, don't be like me

There are a few tools I prefer not to use, a chain saw, a table saw or a 9 inch angle grinder.
I had to use an angle grinder to cut apart the metal frame of a machine we were re-engineering circa 1995. I don't think I've ever been as afraid of any tool since.

When I was 12 I I wanted to build belt sander-powered boots. My parents found out when they caught me with with ski boots in the garage in the middle of summer. I even had a plan for a portable power source. Think gas-powered generator in a backpack.
Ever try to build a hovercraft using vacuum cleaner parts? Asking for a friend. :ROFLMAO:

No but I may have experience in converting a kayak into a submersible. It was a nice kayak. Word of advice: don't make a snorkel longer than 16 inches if it's going to be used for breathing directly on lung power.

Now I'm thinking chainsaw-powered rope ascenders.

Read a report from 1989 stating there were 40,000 chainsaw accidents per year, with some crazy high number of stitches.

Along with chaos, wear a forestry helmet as a NH Occupational Safety Inspector told me about the number of branch strikes. They don’t call them “widowmakers” for nothing.

I don't fell trees, I only cut up fallen ones. But I should probably get a good helmet anyway, just in case. Better to err on the side of safety.

This woman told me that branches falling from adjacent trees are more common than people realize.

We often cut “leaners” but usually tie an arborist rope through a snatch block and pull them all the way down with the tractor.
