When did you first discover the Internet?

I first started using the internet in 1995 with a 486dx2-80 and 8 megs of RAM and 560meg hard drive. Had a 14.4 non-error correcting modem and was always getting disconnected because of that. I was also a co-sysop on a friend's BBS called AOU. Everything sure has come along way since then!

BBS's back in the day with the PCjr or my IBM PS/1 all-in-one with mono VGA screen. ProComm Plus for DOS was the bomb. One of the best programs written for PC-DOS systems. The Win3.1 version just wasn't as good.

Prodigy, AOL for DOS using Geoworks engine (waaaaay faster than the AOL for Windows product), Compuserve. I remember how cool it was to see the big storm of spring '93 on my own computer with Compuserve. lol

Then, dial-up via Megsinet. Finally, the holy grail, a cable modem sometime around '98 or so.

I do remember it being nearly impossible to be able to log on (busy signals) and getting dropped and waiting all over again... this was dial-up in 1995-96.... my step-son came over and installed a program that kept me logged on and not dropped so I would not have to go through the frustrating process of busy signals and dropped again and again.

I first went "online" as a kid sometime around the early 80's with a Commodore 64 and a 300bd modem via dial-up.
