Wheel Offset From Part Number

I'm considering another set of wheels for winter tires and wish to purchase wheels that are as close as possible to the factory parts. This is a Mazda 3 and the part number inside the wheel is: BNJ DOT KAO36 18x7J 50 P73 35 9965 33 7080A

I know the wheels are 18" and 7" wide. Based on this number, is it safe for me to assume the offset is 50mm?

I don't know if its safe to assume, but some googling of the part number "mazda 9965 33 7080 A" seems to indicate that it is ET50 and that isn't terribly out of line with similar sized aftermarket wheels for a Mazda 3.

The car is factory brand new and only a few months old. I tried some google-fu and came up empty too...

Here is a shot from the Mazda Global Electronic Parts Catalog. The "A" on the end of the part number is a supercession with Mazda. The "O" in the description indicates offset.

Thanks very much! You gave me some clues and I was able to figure-out what the part number was and successfully found a supplier that listed all the specifications. It's 50mm offset.

To be honest, I have been doing Mazda parts for 11 years and never noticed that in the catalog listing. We always just go by VIN.

I wish such a resource was available to the general public. I found several web sites specializing in Mazda parts but they had very limited inventory and did not cover the 2018 year model. One site had parts for up to 2006 and another up to 2016. Mine is a 2018 Mazda 3 Touring Hatchback with a 2.5L engine. Most of the places I look at for aftermarket products don't list that as a model and have iTouring, sTouring etc as sub-models.

If you can share a good online part resource for my car, I'd appreciate it.

The catalog we use is direct from Mazda. It is just ok. SnapOn used to make the Mazda catalog and it was a lot better, but you were paying something like $3-5k a month for the privilege.

Understand. I pretty-much assumed you were accessing a proprietary resource but thought I'd just in case a miracle happened and it was a public web site. The follow-up is appreciated. You helped me figure-out the information I was seeking.

My new 2018 mazda3 touring trim has 7x18 tires. I too want a second set of rims for winter tires. I too want to stay as close as possible to factory parts.

Unlike you, I want the winter tires to be on smaller mazda supplied 16" rims, with mazda logo center caps.

Everything I read says smaller rims make most sense for winter tires. I am doing all i can to make sure I can put same rim on my 2018 mazda3 touring trim as comes standard on sport trim.

I just wish I could find someone that has done it.

This website indicates the 16" rims fit the Mazda3 touring trim model.
When I called their parts guy tried use my VIN number, like bdcardinal posting said. That led to inconclusive results, since I am making a change to the car.

16" Wheel, Alloy - Mazda (9965-D0-6560) rim size is consistent with bdcardinal posting Mazda Global Electronic Parts Catalog. 16 rims are standard on the 2018 mazda sport trim comes with 16" rims. I

I called another mazda dealer with competitive pricing https://parts.mazdaofwooster.com. The parts guy their sounded like he knew what he was talking about. He thought what i was trying to do made sense and these mazda 16" rims ought work

When I bought the car I asked a dealer mechanic if I could put 16" rims on he said "yes, only issue might be speedometer may not be 100% accurate.

This concerned me, but by installing 205/60R16 tires I would have tire with much larger sidewall making the overall tire diameter the same as the 18" rims.

I called Tire Rack, they did not think this would be much of an issue with 16" rims. He said its safe to assume I can use same size as car's base model (in this case the madza3 sport trim.)

(Another issue I was concerned about was the tire pressure monitoring. This is a non issue since there are no pressure sensors in 2018 mazda3. It uses indirect method).

And now you know why I'm sticking to rims that are same size as current equipment. I went up & down the same issues as you don't feel like taking guesses when spending about $1500. My winter season is very short and even if 18" wheels with winter tires are not optimal, I'm guessing they are still better than all-season tires.
